Tasting Notes: The scent is pleasant yet slightly unique, with distinct undertones of smoke and peat. The flavor is well-balanced and not overly earthy, which is a common prominent taste in dark teas. On the tongue, there’s a nice combination of wood, fruit, smoke, and earth, with hints of peat and prune.
Region: Yunnan Province
Tuo-cha puerh is a special aged tea that comes out of China.
Puerh tea is produced in a unique manner in which the tea leaves are dried and rolled before being subjected to secondary microbial fermentation and oxidation.
The tea is usually pressed into various shapes (domes, disks, bricks), and the progressive fermentation and maturation process continues throughout storage. The shaped puerh tea can be stored to mature the tea and allow it to develop more flavour.
